Polidori in its Final Days

Robert Polidori is one of the world’s most acclaimed architectural photographers. Along with working as a staff photographer for The New Yorker and frequently contributing to magazines and books, including Vanity Fair, Polidori is known for gaining unparalleled access to sites including Versailles during their many renovations and the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Ukraine.

Robert Polidori: Selected Works features a common theme of human habitat, particularly following disaster or neglect. The exhibition, now in its final days, features photos from Beirut, Havana, Versailles, Chernobyl, New Orleans and New York’s Lower East Side. Don’t miss this stunning Main Gallery exhibit, closing April 13.

Want to be in our next exhibit?

If you’re an artist within 250 miles of the City of Erie, consider entering up to three works (not previously exhibited) to the Erie Art Museum’s 91st Annual Spring Show. Download a prospectus for entry details, and submit your work through Sunday, April 6. We’re thrilled to announce this year's juror of selection and awards as Sergei Isupov. A Russian-born artist, Isupov holds an MFA in Ceramics and has a long international resume with work included in numerous collections and exhibitions throughout the world.

Know someone who might be interested in entering?  Share the Call for Entries with a friend!

The Annual Spring Show will exhibit in the Main Gallery from April 26 - July, 2014. If you’re a member of the Museum, or submitted a piece to the Spring Show, please join us for a private reception Saturday, April 26, 7 – 9:30 p.m. (invitation only). A public reception will be held Sunday, April 27, from 1 – 3 p.m.

The Spring FILM series continues to showcase a clever mix of independent, documentary, and brand new films on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) at the Museum. April’s stellar lineup features Ain’t Them Bodies Saints (April 2), Enemy (April 9), Nymphomaniac Vol. I (April 16), and Nymphomaniac Vol. II (April 23). We’re thrilled to partner with Voodoo Brewery as our beer partner for the month of April. Enjoy complimentary beer sampling on April 2, and a cash beer (and wine) bar all month! Admission for each film is just five bucks! Tickets available at the door.

Second Sundays: Fun for kids + cool enough for adults!

In April we are partnering with the Lake Erie Ballet to present a very special Second Sundays filled with music and movement. Visitors will examine pieces from our permanent collection and create an accompanying dance piece with the help of the Art Moves participants at Lake Erie Ballet.

Families will also create the music for their dance piece by assembling and decorating simple instruments out of recycled materials and balloons. Don't miss this chance to explore art in new ways!

The Museum is free from 1– 5 p.m. with art making activity from 2 – 4 p.m. For groups of 10 or more, please call ahead to register, (814) 459-5477.
