Plenty: Mixed Media Paintings by Dan Schank
Ronald E. Holstein Gallery
In a series of intricately patterned, mixed media paintings, Dan Schank’s Plenty examines our perception of social spaces. Exploring the tension between fantasy and reality, Schank draws from an assortment of mundane and visionary sources, including cruise ships, utopian community models, apocalyptic frontiers, and shopping malls. Ultimately, Plenty exposes the contradictions that arise when the spaces we physically inhabit are forced to reckon with the mediated spaces we imagine inhabiting.
