Erie County Adult Probation Community Service Program

The Museum depends on hundreds of community service volunteers throughout the year. The biggest single coordinated manpower effort is during the Erie Art Museum Blues & Jazz Festival. On Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6, 33 men and women put in a total of 693 hours hauling thousands of pounds of trash and recyclables in Frontier Park, actually leaving it cleaner than they found it. These individuals worked on supervised community service work crews led by the Erie County Adult Probation/Parole Department. Festival-goers were able to enjoy spotless grounds, and did not need to encounter overflowing trash cans. Volunteers were able to fulfill their community service requirements and enjoy great music and ambience. Our deepest gratitude goes to Agents Tom Burkette and John Maloney who spent their weekend supervising the crews and getting this crucial job done.
