Class Description
A 4-part series of classes exploring a variety of photography methods.
Sunday Jan 26, 1 – 3 pm: Photograms and Cyanotype in the Darkroom at 1020 Collective
Join teaching artists in the darkroom to create cyanotypes and photograms utilizing UV Light box and photographic enlargers to make contact prints. Participants are invited to bring in botanicals and objects to print.
Sunday Feb 9, 1 – 3 pm: Photo Transfers at Erie Art Museum
Join teaching artists to make image transfers with your own photographs. Class will include a guided tour of the museum.
Sunday Feb 23, 1 – 3 pm: Polaroid Lifts at Erie Art Museum
Join Teaching artists in experimental play with polaroids. Participants will be given the opportunity to make polaroids around the museum and practice their polaroid lifts in the classroom.
Sunday March 9, 1 – 3 pm: Experimental Collage and Digital Negatives at 1020 Collective
Join teaching artists to create their own digital collages and negatives for printing in cyanotype and darkroom techniques.
Price
$30 per session for members, $40 per session for non-members. Pre-register for all 4 classes at a discount — $100 for members or $120 for non-members.

This class meets every other Sunday from 1 – 3 pm starting January 26th to March 9th for 4 total sessions.

About the Instructors - Sarah Moody
Sarah MK Moody (SMKM, born 1988) is an artist, mother, doula and community builder based in Erie, PA. She has lived in Chicago, NYC and Miami, Florida creating art and art experiences since she was a student at Parsons School of Design studying photography. She learned darkroom photography at the age of 12 and has been actively practicing since then. She is the co-Director of 1020 Collective and The Bastion Studios, an art center and artist studio spaces in Erie, PA. Her current work incorporates experimental photography techniques such as lumen and cyanotype printing, traditional 35mm portraiture, and acrylic painting. You can see her work at sarahmkmoody.com
About the Instructors - Brittany Stowe
Brittany Stowe is a photographer & printmaker working in alternative photographic processes. Through variations of the historic cyanotype process, her work documents the ethereal intersection of science & nature.
Washed_ lab/studio, the Erie-native's most recent project, focuses on promoting the accessibility, sustainability & versatility that the cyanotype process offers as a medium.
