The Erie Art Museum will host the 8th Northwestern Pennsylvania Artists Association (NPAA) Biennial exhibition. The NPAA is a nonprofit 501c(3) organization for professional artists living within a 50 mile radius of Erie, PA. Their mission is to create opportunities for established, emerging and student artists through exhibitions, education and scholarships. The exhibition was juried by Madeline Gent, the Executive Director at the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. The Biennial exclusively features members of the NPAA and opens November 16, 2023 until March 17, 2024 in the historic Customs House.
Madeline Gent is the Executive Director at the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, a membership organization that exhibits, promotes, and supports the work of visual artists who call Pittsburgh and the surrounding region home. She completed her graduate work in Art History and Archaeology at the University of Maryland, College Park where she specialized in 20th century Chinese art and 20th C. Latin-American art. She has held positions at the National Museum of Asian Art, University of Maryland Art Gallery, Johns Hopkins University, Carnegie Mellon University, and more. In 2017, she moved to Pittsburgh, PA to run the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1910, the Associated Artists is a nonprofit that exhibits, promotes, and supports the work of over 600 artists in Pittsburgh.
Madeline also serves on the board of Artist Image Resource, is a member of the Art Advisory Committee for the Allegheny County Airport Authority, and is co-chair of the Carnegie Collective at the Carnegie Museum of Art.
