Have a question about a piece of art you own?
The Museum Curator is scheduling appointments to examine and identify art on the Third Thursday of the month, from 1-3 p.m. Appointments are recommended. Drop-ins will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Please call 814-459-5477 to make an appointment. The fee is $10 for the first piece, $5 for each additional piece. Art examination is offered free for Museum members. The Museum does not offer appraisal services.
In conjunction with its current exhibition Ancient Ink: Mark Perrott,
which is currently on display in the Museum’s Nancy & Warner Bacon Gallery through January 28, the Erie Art Museum is offering free Tuesday admission to all visitors sporting visible tattoos.
Donating Art to the Museum
Thank you for your interest in donating to the Erie Art Museum’s permanent collection.
We are sorry, but the front desk cannot accept donations of objects of any kind.
Deciding whether or not to accession a work of art is a consequential decision for the Museum. When we accept an object into our collection we agree to safeguard it in perpetuity: cataloging it, storing it, displaying it, and having it conserved as needed. Therefore we can only accept gifts that fit our collections guidelines, that have clear provenance (ownership record), and that are likely to be displayed in exhibitions.
To have your donation considered for accession, please email Susan Barnett with photographs and descriptions of the object. Please include the name of the artist, the approximate year the work was made, place of origin, and value (if known).
If you would prefer to donate in person, please make an appointment to bring in the objects on Third Thursday.
