Call For Docents

The Erie Art Museum is seeking enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our team as a Per Diem Docent. As a Per Diem Docent, you will play a vital role in educating and engaging visitors of all ages in the world of art and its impact on our lives. You will lead dynamic and interactive tours, participate in programs and special events, and work with the Museum Education Manager to create a unique and engaging experience for each individual tour. Responsibilities

  • Lead tours for school groups, families, and adult audiences

  • Engage visitors in conversations about art and its impact on our lives

  • Develop and deliver unique, interactive, and age-appropriate tours and art making activities

  • Maintain knowledge of the Museum's collections, exhibitions, and programs

  • Collaborate with the Museum Education Manager on educational initiatives and programs

  • Make adjustments to tours to ensure an engaging and appropriate experience for all visitors

Qualifications

  • Strong passion for art and education

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well with people of all ages and backgrounds

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings

This is a per diem position with availability depending on scheduled events. Pay for this position ranges from $15 to $25 per hour depending on education and experience. You will be compensated for your time spent preparing and creating materials for events.

Proof of the following Pennsylvania Clearances are required

  1. Child Abuse Clearance CY113 issued within the last 5 years

  2. Pennsylvania State Police Clearance SP4 164

  3. FBI Fingerprint Clearance (only required if you have lived outside of Pennsylvania within the past 10 years)

Call For Teaching Artists

The Erie Art Museum is seeking Teaching Artists and Educators to facilitate workshops and lessons within the Museum

Pay: We will pay an hourly rate of $15 - 25/hr OR complete a cost-share agreement depending on experience and education as well as project type. Teaching Assistants opportunities are also available!

Are you a practicing artist that’s interested in running workshops, classes, or courses to share your creative process and techniques with adults or children? 

We’re looking for artists, who are ideally based in Erie County and surrounding areas, to join our cohort of artist educators. The Erie Art Museum encourages art and artists of  all forms therefore we encourage all visual artists, dancers, writers, sculptors, poets, and literary artists to apply.

  5.  (If applicable) A maximum of  eight (8) images of current artwork/ your website displaying your work if available

  6. (If applicable) Brief description of the course including a simplified (weekly, one-time, or monthly)  lesson plan (to be fleshed out if accepted)
